The Return

The Boogyman...Always known to be just a little old wives' tale that parents would tell their children when they threw a fit or refused to eat their dinner. Always something in fantasy, an evil, supernatural being. Something that belonged in your nightmares. A figment of the mind. However, Shizuka's boogyman was not a figment.Rather something that was very, very real.It was a cool morning in New York, the days getting warmer and warmer as it started to grow closer to Summer. Shizuka had finished her breakfast, grabbed a coffee, got dressed and showered, and was out the door a bit earlier than normal today. Something felt different today, as if the spirit of the city was brighter than normal. It was something that made Shizuka smile on her way to work.It was a nice break from the last few days... Her dreams had been getting strange and borderline nightmarish for the past few days. Medical Personnel at the Foundation found nothing abnormal, suggesting it to be due to a lack of sleep, but found the repetitiveness of the face she kept seeing... weirdly concerning. At least it seemed that way for her, especially after she would give them those sketches...It was after she had flicked a coin into a street performer's hat at Lexington and 51st when she felt it... A low rumble, one that shook the ground itself. It wasn't heavy, though it was much more than the usual Subway's shakes. As she came to the top of the stairs of the station. She saw it only for a split second... Something very fast and loud ripping it's way between the buildings, making glass windows burst into millions of pieces as it tumbled down into the city, landing just blocks away...Unlike most, who ran in fear of the crashed object, Shizuka ran towards it. This could be dangerous... If it was what she thought it was, the whole city could become full of stand users in mere days... She ran as fast as she could, dodging falling glass as she used her stand to jump down the street, it turning her invisible so that no-one would see her.By the time she got there, very few were nearby. There was a large gash in the object touching down, it coming to a rest partway in an office building... She approached slowly, noting the blood on the ground..."Blood... People have already been injured, no sign of bodies yet..."She scanned the area, hearing the wail of sirens coming closer. Normally that'd be the sign to leave, but she had to make sure...The object looked atypical to those that normally touched down on earth... It was a dirty gold-ish color, somewhat ovoid in shape, it was seemingly made of a stone, however... there were groves in it, as if it was carved into.Shizuka could feel her heart racing, the sirens getting closer as she got closer, glass crunching under her feet as she peered into the broken store...To see him...Her Boogyman, the one who's name made her father jolt and ready for a fight, the one that the Speedwagon Foundation feared most, The Ultimate Lifeform:KarsIt took about 3 hours after first contact for her to be calmed down by SF personnel, but in her panicked state, she had gone completely invisible, along with part of an apartment building. Every stand user in the area was called in, UV lights were put at maximum brightness even though they knew it might be worthless to do so, and a 4 block radius around the meteor was locked down. The Speedwagon Foundation was doing everything in it's power to make sure this monster stayed in it's slumber. It wasn't till someone dropped a wrench on the meteor while setting up a UV light that they realized something...The "Ultimate Lifeform" was dead.Whatever had happened to the Pillarman during all those years floating in space had somehow killed their body, melding his body with what was soon identified as stand meteors and turning him to stone... The great beast had been slain, but by who? Many of those in the Speedwagon Foundation cited the Alien virus from the rocks that he had turned into and melded with, while others thought that he merely went brain dead in space, and this was the result, his body melding with a meteor that just so happened to already be on a course for earth. No matter the cause, after the cleanup of the Pillarman/Stand Meteor, there was still one issue...Pieces had broken off.Stand Users could be appearing at any moment now, and it wouldn't be long till New York got a lot weirder...And Shizuka was put in charge of finding them..."...Does being a Joestar ever get easy..?"Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Alt-Part 7: Shining Heavens

Old Tendencies

"Right, now I've just gotta-"Shizuka paused, looking over to the door her foot had bumped into that slowly creaked open. That was her Father's Office...The young woman was just about to leave for a date with the one she had grown to love in these past few weeks, dressed somewhat modestly but with a few accessories and some of her newer clothes to complete her look. She was just about to meet her in the living room when she accidently leaned a bit too far to the left and bumped into the door to her father's office. It was strange, she thought, as the last time anyone was in there was when Jotaro was making sure the paperwork for the Condo was safe and could be transferred over to her. Ever since he left back to Florida, it's been left closed... A sort of place of memorial for her father, she thought. A way that made it feel like he was still present...In a way, it was what was letting her cope with everything that had happened within the last year. But now? After a moment of hesitation, she took a step inside. The door creaking on it's hinges that had not moved for what sounded like ages, even if it was only a year. The whole room had a thin film of dust on everything, lighter than she was expecting, but the smell of it was still evident. The sound of her feet on hard wood was comparatively overwhelming compared to the silence within the room, the only other item producing any sort of noise being a small, woodgrain, battery powered clock that ticked away. If it was not for that, it would have felt like a place frozen in time. Papers strewn about on the desk, the disarrayed order her father kept things in still evident throughout...Everything looked to be in it's place, to the point that while Shizuka took steps within the room, her steps were the only ones to be visible in the dust. Her sense of security satisfied, she began to finally take a look around the room after so long. She hadn't really remembered much about the office outside of when she was little... Occasionally it was where her father would go to write, and served as a great place for her and her father to bond. She'd either be drawing or playing with her handheld games as he either napped or wrote down his memoirs. Something that he would end up not finishing in it's entirety, as there was always more to write, and always more lost within his aging mind. Her older drawings and pieces still were in frames on shelves... Hell, even the one of her family when she was only 6 years old.She couldn't help but chuckle upon seeing it once again, picking it up with a smile on her face."Dad... Always wanted to see more of my work..."That's when she noticed a few things sitting behind the art pieces... Several items, caked in a layer of dust that was much older than the rest. She had never really known there to be much else behind these, only that there used to be a bunch of knickknacks here at one point... At least, that's what she remembered. The first item she found from the shelf seemed to be a photo album labeled:

Joseph Joestar
1920 - 1939
Raising her eyebrow, she began to leaf through the old photo album, finding photos of her father she hadn't known existed till now. Him as a boy in England, him and his Grandmother when they arrived in New York, his journey through the Alps and Europe...That's when she found a page that nearly broke her heart... One with a photo of him and another man, Caesar Zeppeli, the Italian that he would describe in his stories he would tell to her in such reverence that it almost could have been mistaken for true, deep love. In all honesty, she didn't know which it was either... On the page next to it was an old, metal, tubular ring. The metal pins holding it in place tarnished as it still shined. Underneath, in her father's handwriting, was written:"Thank you, Caesar."She felt her heart break as the she could feel the loss resonate through her. The only comfort being that her dad went out in comfort, surrounded by family. Her father had overcome such loss time and time again, and while he still had nightmares of those times, he persevered... He avenged Caesar, survived impossible odds, and managed to survive death twice before he passed. A full life, and one she only could hope to spend, surrounded by those who loved her."Shizuka! You coming?""Just a second!" She placed her art piece upon the shelf once more, before placing the album upon the desk. Starting to exit the room before looking back for a moment, a single tear flowing down her cheek as she smiled..."I'll be safe, dad... I love you..."
